The draws have been published for next month’s star-studded Quilter Cheviot Cannon Kirk Irish Open in Dublin.
The five-day Copper status tournament, which has a combined $83K prize fund, will begin on May 19th at Fitzwilliam with eight men’s and eight women’s first round matches before the seeded players join the battle in round two.
Heading up the list of stars are men’s world No.10 Jonah Bryant of England and women’s No.14 Nada Abbas of Egypt, the pair who were Irish Open title winners in 2024.
They are seeded No.1 with Scotland’s Greg Lobban, the world’s No.23, and Egypt’s Zeina Mickawy, the world’s No.29, named as the respective No.2 seeds.
Sam Buckley, the Irish Senior Nationals men’s champion who is listed at No.107 on the PSA’s latest rankings, has been handed a first-round tie against Perry Malik, the No.66 from England. At stake is a round two match with fifth seed Matias Knudsen, the No.43 from Colombia.
Meanwhile, Conor Moran, the PSA No.150 and Nationals runner-up, will open with a match against Rory Stewart, the No.75 from Scotland. Awaiting the winner in round two is seventh seed Sam Todd, the No.47 from England.
Both Buckley and Moran will prepare for the Irish Open by taking part in the previous week’s West of Ireland Open in Galway.
Switching to the women’s section, Ireland’s Breanne Flynn, this year’s Senior Nationals runner-up who has this week returned to her career-best No.98 ranking, has been drawn to play Joelle King, the No.73 from New Zealand. Up for grabs is a round two fixture versus eighth seed Habiba Hani, the No.51 from Egypt.
No.224 Hannah McGugan will begin against Jessica van der Walt, the No.63 from Australia. Fourth seed Nardine Garas, the No.38 from Egypt, will play the winner in round two.
