The draw has been published for next month’s PSA West of Ireland Open, which will take place in Galway from May 12th to May 16th.

Heading up the 24-strong entry list of 13 nationalities for the tournament worth $15K is Samuel Osborne-Wylde, the men’s No.63 from England.

The top seed at Galway LTC is one of nine players entered who are currently in the PSA top 100. He will start with a round two match on May 13th against the winner of Dillon Huang, the No.111 from the United States of America, or Shady El Sherbiny, the No.147 from Egypt.

Second seed Perry Malik, the No.66 from England, will take on either Rhys Evans, the No.92 from Wales, or Ireland’s Michael Creaven, the No.369, in his round two match in Galway.

Malik, coincidentally, is drawn to face Ireland’s Sam Buckley in the opening round at the following week’s Irish Open in Dublin. The pair face each other this week in a quarter-final in the United States, with Buckley winning 3-1.

Four Irish players are in the Galway draw. Aside from Creaven coming up against Evans, Senior Nationals champion Buckley, the No.107, will open against Salah Eltorgman, the No.137 from Canada.

Conor Moran, the No.150, will be up against Ben Smith, the No.105 from England, while Alex Smith, the No.431, will play Brice Nicolas, the No.94 from France.

All matches at the tournament sponsored by Garavan’s Bar will take place on court one at the Galway LTC and admission is free.

It was April 2024 when the West of Ireland was previously held. That $12K tournament was won by the unseeded Declan James, the English player who has since gone on to climb the PSA charts and is currently ranked No.33.
