This past 10 months has been very difficult for us all in society. Within sport it has been no different. With the continued uncertainty of when we will return to sport, it is very difficult to plan. The government through their Covid Support Funding for Sport, announced in November, have sought to support Sport governing bodies, like Irish Squash and clubs with this fund.
Financial support from this fund, which Irish Squash made available to clubs just before Christmas, – the Affiliation Fee refund of 2019/20 fees and the 100% Discount of 2020/21 Affiliation Fees was most welcome and appreciated by clubs.
Also Connacht, Leinster and Munster Squash branches were supported for loss of income from provincial leagues, through this fund. Ulster Squash and its clubs (except Cavan, Donegal & Monaghan) are being supported through a fund being managed by Sport Northern Ireland.
And finally, Irish Squash is launching a Club resilience Fund which clubs can apply to. Clubs should only apply if they are in very genuine need of financial support. It is expected that clubs have sought to manage their finances wisely and prudently over the last 10 months. If the club has cash reserves, they shouldn’t apply. Also loss of revenue from non squash related activities e.g. bar or hiring out premises etc should not form part of any rationale for support. There are terms & conditions which apply and are on the application form (attached) and listed below. Only affiliated clubs of Irish Squash in the Republic of Ireland may apply.
Applications are open now with a closing date for applications at 5pm on May 31st 2021. Applications which must be made on the offical form (see below) with any relevant support documents e.g. Accounts, should be made to [email protected]
The decision of the board of Irish Squash re any grant awards will be final.
If you have any questions re the fund please e mail them to [email protected]
